Bill’s career as a financial advisor and an industry leader sets him apart from the crowd. Along with Beth Gamel, he co-founded Pillar Financial Advisors in 1986. He counsels clients on a wide range of financial planning issues. His extensive experience in complex tax and estate planning strategies provides Pillar’s clients with state of the art expertise and guidance.
Bill holds degrees in accounting, law and taxation from the University of Cincinnati, Boston College and Boston University. He graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor’s of Business Administration in accounting form Cincinnati’s Lindner College of Business and received his Juris Doctor from Boston College and his Masters of Law in Taxation from Boston University.
Five times Worth Magazine listed Bill as one of the nation’s top financial advisors. Barron’s named him as one of the "Top 100 Independent Financial Advisors" in the country. Bill writes and lectures on the taxation of employee stock options and stock option liquidation strategies and has written numerous articles related to employee compensation and estate planning for both professional journals and the popular press, including a series of articles on estate planning for thestreet.com. The Wall Street Journal, Fortune, BusinessWeek, and Forbes have quoted Bill on these issues. He has appeared on Fox News, Reuters and Wall Street Journal videos, and he has given numerous presentations at colleges and professional conferences.
Bill’s industry leadership is evidenced by his serving as the Chair of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA). He has also served on the boards of several local professional, charitable and community organizations.
Outside activities include cycling, sailing and skiing. Bill is a past Commodore of the Winchester Boat Club, is a member of the Charles River Wheelmen and rides in the Pan Mass Challenge.
